Support will be provided for the studies with a duration of one (1) to five (5) months as an exchange student at a foreign university or research institution in the framework of the postgraduate studies in Estonia. Only doctoral students can apply for visits to research institutions. A description of the research institution must be attached to the application. The support can be used:

  • for visiting of lectures;
  • for individual work;
  • for internships;
  • for consultations with specialists in one’s field, etc.

Support can be applied only in order to finance studies within the same academic degree.

The student is not required to be present at a foreign university throughout the entire period of studies. For example, in the case of a three-month support, it can be shared between different semesters (one month in the fall and two months in the spring). The duration of one period cannot be less than one month (30 days).

A student cannot apply for support  for studying in several countries during one period of study. As a rule, the active study process should be taking place at the host institution of higher education during the stay abroad.

Receipt or non-receipt of the support is determined by the Kristjan Jaak Scholarship Council on the basis of the letters of motivation and recommendation of the applicants.

Applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Council twice a year.
